Unfortunately, there are children within our society who don’t receive the love and care they should and many are in need of foster carers to provide a stable home, until they are fully adopted. The foster caring process can be short term, as little as just a few weeks, or it may be several years before the child is taken into more permanent care.
It is a real privilege to have children of your own but foster caring is truly selfless and highly rewarding and although it is challenging, you will be giving a child a future. There is nothing more special than being able to do that.
It is not as easy as just putting in an application to foster, you need to be prepared to go through a strict assessment, so the social worker can determine your suitability. This will look at your past, your current home situation and whether you can offer a loving home to a child. It is not a simple process, but this is because these children are vulnerable and they need to be sure they get the right fit.
