There are less foster carers now due to the lack of support. Ignorance from SWs and those above sat behind their desks with no clue as to what’s going on. Lack of understanding around the children and the trauma they’ve been through or going through. Carefully think about this when making this invaluable decision around foster caring. It’s a decision that will change your life totally and the child or YP that you allow into your home to guide, love and nurture. It’s a roller coaster of emotions, it has a lot of ups and downs and not always happy endings. It’s 24/7 and the child will always come first. Your life and your families will come second in every day life when making decisions. You’ll be the voice of the child and it’s not always listened to, yet you know the child best. The support isn’t always there for you or your family. Your mental health is not thought about and how fostering affects you or your family. Its such a shame you’re treated as a utility, not thought about in a professional capacity, despite all the meetings you attend, all the paper work and reports you fill out, the knowledge you have around the child or YP, you attend training yet it means nothing. The trauma these children go through and some of the SWs have absolutely no idea about 😢 They don’t listen they have a plan and no matter who it affects they aim to get their. Oh and if you love the child or children that come to live with you, welcome them into your home like family, it’s frowned upon, un healthy. The positives are watching the children grow and thrive. ❤️ Helping them in their journey ahead.
